Pecan Orchard Cleanup II

We spent another day this week cleaning up the orchard. We’d hit the South end and needed to cleanup the middle back part of the orchard. It involved felling three trees and continuing to chop down weeds and small brush around the trees, limbing the dead wood, and spraying the poison ivy.

We put both the chain and pole saws to work . The photo above is Brett and his dad with the first pecan to go. You can see in some of the photos we’ve marked the trees with pink tape. Mike will have wood for a year with the trees we’ve felled.

The difference between natural and cleaned up trees is pretty significant as you can see in the photos below. And you can read about the cool thing I found in the brush under the far left tree, here.
